162 These are excerpts from a 16 mm, 1941 film shot during the bombing of London at the Tate & Lyle factory on the River Thames. In 1941 Man-Power was so short that "girls" had to do men’s process jobs. For four years all the white sugar was dried by three shifts of six girls. These girls worked cheerfully through air raids, bombs, and rockets. Here are three of them: Rose Hale, Mabel Kebbell, Peggy Burrows.
