helper and I started on one of the S.D. wash machines. My experience at Spreckels served me well. I made adjustments on clutches, baskets, etc. and got one machine going well so it discharged. Mr. Wirshing, one of the owners, a large man, came up on the platform, threw his arms around me and thanked me . I finally got the white sugar machines working too.“ That year (1927) I left Western States and started my own business (the J.C. Ferguson Manufacturing Works) to supply centrifugal liners and other products to the sugar industry. From then on I was called Mr. Junghands’ pet and the Serralles never forgot this as I got all their centrifugal liner and screen orders without quoting. These shared moments by Cecil Ferguson clearly demonstrate from the beginning, Western States commitment to service, hands-on, and “can-do” attitude. Western States only associated with the best and the brightest in the industry. We are grateful to have played a small part in Cecil Ferguson breaking into and learning the sugar industry in 1924. Due to Ferguson Perforating’s dedication, quality products, and passion for serving customers, we are proud to say they are still one of our premier partners since 1927. 161 right: left to right: representatives from Ferguson Perforating (formerly J.C.
