101 The Diversification of the Chem/Pharma Division The 1970s began in much the same way as the 1950s, with a change at the helm. Bob Jones was selected as Dudley Parker's replacement as president. Though the early-1960s boom had reached its ebb, production was still fairly steady, and the workforce shrank to just under 160 people. The 1970s also saw increased reliance on computers, starting with basic data processing equipment and gradually expanding into more powerful computers for a wide range of tasks. The pace of business picked back up by 1972, and the company’s sales grew through the rest of the decade. left: Quadramatic with CIP (Clean-In-Place) for the Chemical and Pharmaceutical Market right: Roger Fair, Chemical Sales (1977)
