CASSA Compañía Azucarera Salvadoreña Compañía Azucarera Salvadoreña is an agro-industrial company with 50 years of experience in the production and marketing of sugar and by- products derived from cane. CASSA manufactures various types of sugar for the national, industrial and consumer markets, and produces brown (raw), standard white and refined sugar. In 2005, Compañía Azucarera Salvadoreña (CASSA) believed and invested in the mill, Ingenio Chaparrastique, which is located in the area of San Miguel. Now the mill has a grinding capacity of eight thousand tons of cane per day. By investing in the cane industry, CASSA improved the lives of their workers, implemented new agricultural technology and developed more efficient processes, low-cost production methods, and sales and marketing leadership to produce and sell about 15% of America’s sugar. CASSA is where Western States sold the first Titan 2400 batch centrifuge; the largest centrifuge ever made and it still remains the largest centrifuge in the industry. top: Ed Dunsmuir, Western States (on the right) in El Salvador, Central America second from top: Carlos Marteau, Consultant (second person from the left)
